Hawaii students showcase career skills, network with professionals at Honolulu conference
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Thousands of middle and high school students from across the state are in Honolulu for the annual Career and Technical Student Organizations State Conference.
The conference is made up of 120 student organizations and provides students with the opportunity to leverage their passions and apply them to real life situations.
“I continue to be so impressed with the Department of Education engaging with industry leaders to give different viewpoints of what’s available out there as their career pathway or their interest level,” said Lt. Gov. Sylvia Luke (D).
The two-day event, hosted at the Hawaii Convention Center, lets students showcase their own career skills and network with industry professionals in fields such as business, marketing, technology, healthcare, and agriculture.
“So from this experience, I was able to work on my communication and quick thinking skills because I’m given a ten minute prompt to come up with ideas on how to help out a retail business. And I think this really helps with me being able to communicate my ideas with the judge,” said Mililani student Lauren Johnson.
