Hawaii Pacific basketball teams split with Menlo | Honolulu Star-Advertiser

Quentin Meza finished with 20 points and eight assists, and Josh Niusulu added 15 points as the Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team beat Menlo 83-72 on Thursday in Atherton, Calif.

Joshua West and Nemanja Sarenac each had 12 points for the Sharks (7-4, 3-3 PacWest).

JaMaal Unuakhalu scored 21 points for the Oaks (2-12, 2-6).

HPU led 46-33 at halftime.

>> Kimberly Ceron-Romero finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Mehkia Applewhite grabbed 10 rebounds as the Menlo women shut down Hawaii Pacific 58-28.

Alana Roberts finished with 13 points for the Sharks (3-9, 2-4 PacWest).

The Oaks (5-8, 3-5) held the Sharks to 9-for-57 shooting from the field, including 2-for-20 from 3-point range.

Vulcans hoops squads go 1-1 at Dominican

KeanuMarie Huihui finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds as the Hawaii Hilo women’s basketball team beat Dominican 69-62 on Thursday in San Rafael, Calif.

Huihui was 8-for-13 from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range.

Noelle Sua-Godinet added eight points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the Vulcans (5-6, 3-3 PacWest).

Keyonee Neal and Mahliya Wilson each scored 14 points for the Penguins (10-3, 4-3).

>> Nick Medeiros finished with 20 points and five assists as the Dominican men beat Hawaii Hilo 74-64.

Julio Montes II finished with 20 points and Dre Nobles added 18 for the Vulcans (1-11, 1-5 PacWest).

Michael Wilson and Jorge Ochoa each added 13 points for the Penguins (8-5, 3-4).

Dominican outscored Hilo 41-32 in the second half.
