Hawaii Island judge grants supervised release for suspected counterfeit money-maker

HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – Against objections from prosecutors, a Hilo judge granted supervised release to a suspected counterfeiter.

This is after William Kaipo Junior was rearrested and charged Friday morning with five counts of felony forgery and theft for allegedly producing and using fake $100 bills at Big Island businesses.

Officials say they allegedly found more fake bills, instructions to make bogus currency, a color printer, and counterfeit detection pens in his car.

His Trial is set for October 14.
