Hawaii County dispatcher honored for quick actions that helped save a woman’s life
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaii County dispatcher was honored Monday for her quick actions that helped save the life of a Honoka’a woman.
Winnie Mochida and her family surprised Allison Ford at work to say thank you.
Back in January, Mochida experienced a medical emergency at home.
Her daughter called 911 and said Ford remained calm, soothing, and confident the entire call.
“We didn’t know what was wrong. luckily we got Allison, and she walked us through. and helped us so my sister and brother-in-law could perform CPR and save my mom’s life,” Winnie’s daughter, Sandy Mochida Rapozo, said.
Mochida was eventually rushed to the hospital and has since made a full recovery.
“We don’t always get to hear the outcomes of our calls — much less if they are positive or not. I am very grateful today that a family gets to continue being a family and spending time with one another,” Allison Ford said.
Mayor Mitch Roth presented Ford with a certificate of commendation for her outstanding service.
