HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A former housing official with Hawaii County is charged with fraud after allegedly taking almost $2 million {dollars} in kickbacks for approving sure initiatives.

Alan Rudo labored for the Workplace of Housing and Group Growth from 2006 to 2018.

Courtroom paperwork mentioned he was liable for reviewing and recommending which builders would obtain Inexpensive Housing Credit.

Rudo allegedly operated three inexpensive housing LLCs to promote land and housing credit to 3 unidentified co-conspirators.

If convicted, all offered land could be forfeited again to the county.

He’s anticipated to be arraigned in court docket on Monday.
