ASU Football: Hawaii transfer offensive lineman Joshua Atkins commits to ASU

Arizona State has landed former Houston and Hawaii offensive lineman Josh Atkins, via the transfer portal.

Atkins played two seasons at Houston, but never saw action. He played one season as starting left tackle in Hawaii before hitting the portal and announcing his commitment to ASU. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound saw action in every game for Hawaii in 2023.

With the addition of Atkins to Tempe, the Sun Devil’s have added much needed size in the trenches — something they struggled with in Dillingham’s first season. The situation even got so dire that Dillingham not-so-jokingly inquired about any 300-pound men wondering around campus who might be interested in playing on special teams.

Since the season concluded, Dillingham has brought in Joey Su’a from Arkansas, Shancco Matautia from New Mexico State and now Atkins. Su’a stands at 6-foot-4, 315-pounds while Matautia stands at 6-foot-2, 346-pounds.
