After string of stabbings, prosecutors dub Hawaii suspect a ‘modern-day serial killer’

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaii Island man accused in a string of knife assaults in latest weeks now faces a first-degree homicide cost, which is uncommon in Hawaii.

Chito Asuncion is accused of stabbing 4 folks ― from Kailua-Kona to Hilo ― over three weeks.

Two of the victims died, two had been injured.

“Homicide within the second-degree, the max penalty is life in jail with the opportunity of parole. Homicide within the first-degree, it’s life in jail with out the opportunity of parole,” stated Hawaii County Prosecuting Legal professional Kelden Waltjen.
