A teenage girl was critically injured after being shot in Maili late Saturday night.
A Honolulu Police Department report says officers responded to a hospital in Waianae where the 17-year-old girl had been taken by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services paramedics.
HPD officers, who have opened a first-degree attempted murder investigation, determined that the teen and three adults were hanging out in Maili at about 11:08 p.m. when a group of males exited a gray SUV and one of the males shot “at the victim’s group, striking the juvenile victim,” HPD said in the report.
The male suspects fled in the SUV in an unknown direction, according to police.
A Honolulu EMS report said paramedics responded to the incident at 86-206 Farrington Highway, near Maili Beach in Waianae, at about 11:08 p.m, treated the patient, and transported her to a trauma hospital.
Police said they have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
