Two dead after two separate shootings in Southern Colorado
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Law enforcement is investigating two separate shootings that took place Friday, one in Monument at a King Soopers, the other outside of Aqua Nightclub in Colorado Springs.
Colorado Springs Police say the victim in the nightclub shooting died in the hospital and they are working through a list of suspects. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for answers in the other shooting.
“According to the caller, a male walked up to a vehicle in the parking lot and opened fire on the vehicle,” Public Information Officer for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Kurt Smith said.
That is what deputies from the sheriff’s office say happened in the middle of the day in the parking lot of a King Soopers in Monument. Part of the grocery store’s parking lot turned into a crime scene for most of the day.
Deputies say one woman was found dead in the car and they believe she was the only one in the car at the time of the shooting.
That shooting happened ten hours after another deadly shooting in the parking lot of a Colorado Springs nightclub.
“We see a lot of crazies, a few crazies in the store all around. Yeah, this whole area is like that,” Iris Baylosis said. “I’ve been in the Springs nine years. Big difference from what I moved here till now, so yeah, I’ve seen a lot.”
Baylosis works near Aqua Nightclub near North Academy and Galley. Police say they believe the people involved in that shooting overnight knew each other. When they got on scene officers say it was clear a shooting took place but the victim was nowhere to be found.
After a short time on the scene, police say they got a call from the hospital saying the shooting victim drove himself there. 10 Minutes later, by the time officers arrived at the ER, the victim was dead.
“There’s too much people dying already. We don’t need that. We need peace,” Baylosis said.
Anyone who has information on the nightclub shooting incident is asked to contact CSPD at (719)-444-7000 or the Crimestoppers Tip Line at (719) 634-7867 to remain anonymous. Deputies are asking anyone with information on the King Soopers to call (719) 390-5555.
