Coroner identifies pedestrian killed in crash in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified a pedestrian killed in a crash on January 2 as 76-year-old Alan Krause.
The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said the crash occurred at North Cascade Avenue and East Espanola Street around 5:47 p.m.
By the time emergency teams arrived at the scene, police said Krause had died. They said the driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the crash scene and was cooperative with responders.
According to police, initial investigation shows that the vehicle was traveling north on Cascade, approaching Espanola, which is one lane in each direction. They said Krause was crossing Cascade near Espanola when the crash occurred.
CSPD does not believe that impairment or speed were contributing factors in the crash.
This is the first traffic-related death in Colorado Springs of 2026. At this time last year, police say there were zero traffic-related deaths.
