Colorado weather: Denver sees its first (late) freeze ahead of mild weekend
Temperatures dipped below freezing in Denver for the first time this season early Friday morning, about two and a half weeks later than average, according to the National Weather Service.
While much of the metro area has yet to experience a first freeze, the agency said in a social media post that frosty weather will likely arrive by the middle of next week.
The frost is expected to melt by 9 a.m. in Denver, after which temperatures are expected to climb into the mid 60s, falling to 37 degrees overnight. Sunny weather is forecast Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s.
Denver’s earliest recorded freeze occurred Sept. 8 in 1962 and 2020, while the latest freeze occurred Nov. 15 in 1944.
