COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – For Saint Patrick’s Day weekend, Colorado Springs hosted many events celebrating the holiday, including the 40th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The Springs community joined together on the sides of Tejon Street, watching the themed floats and parade participants ride by. Local businesses and sponsors were handing out candy and green beads as they passed, and Colorado Springs, Mayor Yemi Mobolade, was among them.

Parade attendees say this event holds a lot of meaning to them.

“I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl,” one attendee said. “The best part my mom used to love when she was alive was the bagpipes.”

With the influx of people coming to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day in the Springs, it brought a boom for local businesses.

“We had a line out the door for like two hours straight today,” Raina, assistant manager and shift lead at The Perk Downtown said. “People just wanting coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, snacks, stuff like that, it’s like doubled our business for today which is really awesome.”

Many participants said they were excited to eat some traditional Irish foods like corned beef and cabbage.
