GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – A 49-year-old man from Colorado Springs was sentenced to prison on Tuesday for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, as announced by the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Columbia.

Jonathan David Grace received a two-year prison sentence, three years of supervised probation, and was ordered to pay $7,000 in fines and restitution by a district court judge. Grace pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers in October.

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Grace was part of a group of rioters attempting to push their way past a police line at the lower west terrace tunnel entrance to the Capitol on January 6, 2021. During the incident, Grace joined rioters in shouting “heave! Ho!” while linking arms and pushing against police. One officer was reportedly crushed between a shield and a metal door frame during the altercation, as per a news release.
