Colorado Springs firefighters reminding public of fire safety after busy Monday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs firefighters are warning citizens to stay vigilant as temperatures rise and vegetation dries out.
On a bright, sunny Monday with thermometers hovering near 100 degrees, crews responded to several grass fires. The city was under a red flag warning at the time.
The day is not over and we will continue to be in a Red Flag Warning until 9pm tonight.
We have had several grass fires today and CSFD crews have quickly responded to and extinguished all of them keeping them from spreading or getting out of control.

The fires were largely small and contained quickly, but as anyone who has lived in Colorado for a period of time can attest, small fires can rapidly get out of control when the conditions are right.
It’s going to be a long summer — make it a good one by practicing fire safety at all times!
