Colorado Springs firefighters reminding public of fire safety after busy Monday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs firefighters are warning citizens to stay vigilant as temperatures rise and vegetation dries out.

On a bright, sunny Monday with thermometers hovering near 100 degrees, crews responded to several grass fires. The city was under a red flag warning at the time.

The fires were largely small and contained quickly, but as anyone who has lived in Colorado for a period of time can attest, small fires can rapidly get out of control when the conditions are right.

It’s going to be a long summer — make it a good one by practicing fire safety at all times!
