Teen daredevil gets stuck swinging from 730-foot bridge — California’s tallest — rescuers pull him to safety

A 19-year-old thrill seeker was rescued from California’s tallest bridge Monday after he got stuck swinging from the structure’s underside as his buddy filmed the daring feat, authorities said.

The unidentified teenager was dangling from a rope attached to the Foresthill Bridge — which stands 730 feet above the American River’s North Fork — when first responders had to bring him to safety, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said.

A rescuer was lowered to retrieve the teenager, who was hanging about 30 feet from the underside of the catwalk, sheriff officials said.

The daredevil’s 17-year-old friend was filming him swinging from the bridge when his equipment failed, leaving him suspended in the air, authorities said.

The 19-year-old declined medical attention following the scary moment.

The Foresthill Bridge, which opened in 1973, has been featured in several commercials and movies, according to CBS Sacramento.

One of the flicks to film there was “xXx” starring Vin Diesel. The actor drove a flashy car off the bridge and parachuted to his buddies in a car below in the 2002 movie.

The two teenagers messing around on the bridge Monday were issued trespassing citations, according to authorities.
