Warmer days ahead for Arizona
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — A mostly sunny Martin Luther King Jr. Day is ahead for Arizona. In the Valley, morning temperatures in the 30s and 40s will warm to the upper 60s this afternoon.
High pressure is building to our west, while a large trough is sitting to the east of Arizona, impacting much of the country with cold air and wintery precipitation. Later this week, the ridge currently over California and Oregon will slide toward Arizona, bringing a warm-up. Temperatures top out near 70 degrees for Tuesday and Wednesday but near 75 degrees by Friday and Saturday.
We’re watching a potential weather pattern change for the end of next weekend. A Pacific storm system looks to bring thick cloud cover for the weekend and slight rain chances for Sunday. This will also drop temperatures back a few degrees to the low 70s. Snow levels are likely to stay fairly high with this storm, generally between 7,000 and 8,000 feet.
It’s too early to tell how much rain and snow this storm will bring to Arizona, but we should have a better idea over the next few days as we get closer.
