It is Bourbon Heritage Month, and as a bourbon aficionado myself, I made a decision to have a good time by sampling among the native whiskies Arizona has to supply.

State of play: This is not Kentucky, however there are some of us distilling bourbon regionally. Others supply whiskey that is distilled elsewhere however end manufacturing right here.

  • For my tasting, I targeted on bourbons which might be distilled within the Grand Canyon State.
Sacred Stave

Maker: San Tan Spirits

State of play: Sacred State is a high-rye whiskey, with rye making up 28% of the mash invoice, and it is completed in Tawny port and Madeira wine barrels. I observed some vanilla up entrance.

Black Mountain Bourbon

Maker: Black Mountain Tavern & Distillery

Notes: It had a fairly traditional bourbon style with some fruitiness on the end.

Peralta Bourbon

From: Adventurous Stills

Notes: This was essentially the most distinctive whiskey of the bunch. It had a definite chocolatey style that I’ve by no means tasted in one other bourbon.

The underside line: Sacred Stave was my favourite of the trio I sampled.

  • San Tan and Adventurous Stills have loads of different whiskies obtainable, and there are different native bourbons I’ve but to strive.
  • I am at all times looking out for suggestions, however I hear good issues about Copper Metropolis from Arizona Distilling Co.
