Tracking snap counts and Pro Football Focus grades from Arizona’s loss to Colorado

It wasn’t your imagination; Arizona’s 34-7 home loss to Colorado was about as ugly as they come.

But from a grading standpoint, the Wildcats weren’t nearly as bad in some areas as they’ve been at other times during what is quickly becoming a lost season. According to Pro Football Focus, the UA’s overall grade of 65.0 on Saturday was slightly better than its 64.5 from the week before at BYU, but that mark was heavily influenced by the defense.

Arizona’s defense graded at 75.3, second-best this season and behind only the 84.3 it got for beating NAU in Week 2. The Wildcats’ run defense (83.4) was also second to the NAU game and they recorded their second-best tackling grade (67.2) of the season.

On offense, though, it was a very different (and bad) story. Arizona earned a 53.4 grade for its time with the ball, its lowest since October 2021 when it graded at 52.9 in a 34-0 loss at Colorado.

The passing game was the main culprit, with the 42.7 pass blocking grade its lowest since a 33.9 at Utah in 2022.

For the season, Arizona’s overall grade of 81.8 has dropped it to 72nd out of 134 FBS schools. Next weekend’s opponent, West Virginia, ranks 69th at 81.8.

Below are the overall grades and snap counts for every UA player who saw time on offense or defense against Colorado, as well as some superlatives.
