Arizona women’s basketball head coach Adia Barnes went into the preseason with 12 players last year. After injuries, suspensions, and various defections, the team had just seven available players by year’s end. So, she decided to start with 14 this year—and she’s already lost one.

Forward Ajae Yoakum, who joined the team as a grad transfer this offseason, announced on her Instagram account Thursday afternoon that she had surgery on her knee.

Arizona followed up on Friday with an announcement that she was out indefinitely.

Yoakum spent two years at Eastern Arizona College before transferring to Florida International. At FIU, she played in 33 games as a junior and 19 as a senior. Last year, her season ended in January due to an injury.

Arizona now has eight healthy players on its roster that are listed as forwards. Five players are listed as guards.
