Arizona opens as small underdog at Houston

Arizona football’s credibility of winning and cover the spread took a hit Saturday night with a double overtime loss to BYU. Even so, oddsmakers expect the Wildcats to give Houston a close contest.

Arizona has opened as a 1.5-point underdog at Houston, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The over/under is 47.5 points. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 a.m. PST Saturday on FS1.

Arizona enters the game 4-2 against the spread (ATS) this season, including 2-1 as underdogs. Arizona is 7-3 ATS as underdogs of three points or fewer dating back to late 2018.

The Wildcats’ last outright win as a road underdog came at Utah last September. The UA has since lost four consecutive road games as underdogs.

Arizona is facing a Houston team that is 4-2 ATS this year and coming off a 39-17 road victory over Oklahoma State in a game it was favored to win by two touchdowns.

Dating back to last season, Houston has won its last three games as home favorites and covered in each instance.

Arizona defeated Houston 27-3 at home last season.
