Soldotna Man Dies in Multiple Vehicle Crash Caused by Collision with Moose on Sterling Highway – Alaska Native News
Soldotna-based troopers and Central Emergency Providers responded to mile 99.5 of the Sterling Freeway after receiving a number of studies of a severe multiple-vehicle collision on Tuesday night, troopers reported.
Upon arrival, troopers found a Soldotna driver, recognized as 36-year-old Sam Clyde, deceased, and he was pronounced on the scene. Two others in a 2013 Ford Edge had been injured within the accident and had been transported to the Central Peninsula Hospital.
A preliminary investigation into the crash discovered that Clyde whereas driving his 2000 Volkswagen Beetle southbound, bumped into an grownup cow moose. Because of that preliminary collision, Clyde’s Beetle crossed over the centerline and crashed headlong into the Ford touring northbound.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
