Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera reaches 3,000 hits milestone

Detroit Tigers star hitter Miguel Cabrera joined an elite membership on Saturday after turning into the thirty third main leaguer to succeed in 3,000 profession hits and simply the seventh participant to perform the feat and hit 500 dwelling runs. 

Cabrera, 39, reached the milestone after hitting a single to proper subject off Colorado Rockies righty Antonio Senzatela within the first inning of Saturday’s doubleheader.

A packed Comerica Park chanted “Miggy, Miggy!” as Cabrera made his solution to first base with each arms raised. 

Rockies shortstop Jose Iglesias went over to congratulate him and hand over the now-priceless ball.  

After a quick second together with his household behind dwelling plate, he scored on a three-run homer by 22-year-old rookie Spencer Torkelson, who has taken over because the Tigers’ common first baseman with Cabrera within the position of designated hitter.

A two-time AL MVP, a Triple Crown winner, and an 11-time All-Star with 4 batting titles, Cabrera’s 3,000 hits did little to safe what was already a Corridor of Fame profession. 

The accomplishment was long-awaited after he went 0 for 3 Thursday and was deliberately walked his remaining time up in opposition to the New York Yankees, drawing loud boos and chants from Detroit followers.

And naturally, the climate would have him wait another day.

Cabrera was the third participant to get his 3,000th hit whereas with Detroit, becoming a member of Ty Cobb and Al Kaline.
