El Camino Real selects Shawn Kolani to be boys’ basketball coach

Shawn Kolani, a former women’ basketball participant at Taft who’s the sister of former NBA participant Jordan Farmar, has been named the boys’ basketball coach at El Camino Actual.

Kolani has been working in participant growth and spent one season teaching at Taft below boys’ coach Derrick Taylor, who gave her excessive reward.

“She’s an actual good coach and gender performs no position,” Taylor stated. “She’s going to achieve success.”

A primary step for Kolani will likely be coping with the fallout from the dismissal of longtime coach Joe Wyatt, who was serving to put together quite a few promising younger gamers, together with his freshman son JD.

Kolani stepped in for Taylor throughout a sport in 2019 when he was sick. She is a minimum of the third girl to be teaching a Metropolis Part boys’ basketball group, becoming a member of coaches at Roybal and Sherman Oaks CES.

Kolani enrolled at Taft within the fall of 2008 as a freshman and later performed for School of the Canyons.

She was head coach final season for Glendale Academy boys’ group. She stated she is hoping for a “seamless transition” and needs to start out instantly when she meets the group on Friday. She’s 28.
