When the Los Angeles Dodgers take the field for Game 1 of the World Series, expect first baseman Freddie Freeman to be back in the starting lineup, writes Valentina Martinez of Dodgers Nation.

Freeman missed Games 5 and 6 of the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets due to an ankle injury, but the Dodgers still closed out the series Sunday night in front of the home crowd at Dodger Stadium.

Now, Freeman has a few days to rest before Game 1, set for Friday, Oct. 25 at Dodger Stadium.

The All-Star originally sprained his ankle in late September, and doctors estimated a recovery time of 4-6 weeks. However, just 10 days later, Freeman was back in the lineup for Game 1 of the National League Division Series against San Diego, although he was clearly hobbled and missed some playing time.

While Freeman was out, Max Muncy stepped in at first base. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised Muncy’s performance, not only at the plate but also for his smooth transition from third base to first.

“I think people talk a lot about what Kiké [Hernández] does in the postseason, but Max is another guy who finds a different gear for us when it matters,” Roberts said. “He’s a machine at getting on base and knows how to control the strike zone.”
