Single-vehicle crash leaves 1 dead near downtown Los Angeles

A person died early Saturday morning after a freeway crash near downtown Los Angeles, police confirmed.

According to the L.A. Police Department, law enforcement agencies received reports of a single-vehicle collision at about 5:11 a.m. The crash took place at the transition from the southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway to the westbound lanes of the 10.

Upon arrival, authorities pronounced one person dead at the scene.

The person was not identified as of 11:20 a.m. Saturday.

Police didn’t say whether speed, drugs or alcohol were suspected to be factors in the crash. It wasn’t clear how the crash occurred as of Saturday morning.

The incident forced lane closures in the vicinity until 8:05 a.m., when all lanes were reopened.

No additional details were immediately made available.
