Man swings golf club at teens celebrating on beach, then returns with gun: Ventura PD
Ventura police arrested a man on Monday they say swung a golf club at a group of teens celebrating on the beach and then fired a gun into the air.
The incident was reported in the area of Pierpont Beach near the end of Norwich Lane just before 8:30 p.m.
“The callers reported a man, later identified as Robert Felix, had fired a handgun in the air near a large group of people,” the Ventura Police Department stated in a news release.
Arriving officers learned that the group consisted of teenagers believed to be celebrating their upcoming high school graduation on the beach.
Felix, a 43-year-old Ventura resident who lives nearby, was upset by the partying and approached the group while swinging a golf club, police said.
“He retreated into his house but came back outside a short time later, brandishing a firearm at the group,” the Police Department stated.
Investigators said Felix pointed the gun in the air and fired one round.
He was arrested and later booked on suspicion of brandishing, unlawful discharge of a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon.
Police said that no one was injured in the incident.
