LIVE: Authorities pursue carjacking suspect in L.A. County
Authorities are pursuing a suspect in Los Angeles County on Wednesday night.
The driver was initially wanted out of Riverside for possible charges of carjacking and domestic violence, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver continued traveling at high speeds toward the San Gabriel Valley area and later the Agoura Hills area. At times, the driver hit speeds of up to 100 miles per hour as patrol units trailed closely behind.
The driver hit a median when transitioning onto the 101 Freeway, sending sparks from underneath the car flying onto the freeway. A front tire was apparently damaged after that move and the suspect began slowing down.
Officers successfully used a PIT maneuver against the vehicle, spinning the car around and knocking out a tire and a rear bumper.
After a moment, however, the suspect continued speeding away while dragging the damaged bumper behind the car, before eventually losing that piece as well.
The car continued deteriorating as the suspect is driving on three tires and one rim located on the front passenger side.
After arriving in the Agoura Hills area on the 101 Freeway, officers attempted a second PIT maneuver, effectively disabling the suspect’s car.
