A pair of climbers were rescued in the San Bernardino National Forest after they became stuck on the West Lark route at Tahquitz Rock, near Idyllwild.

The Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit, the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team and a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter were called to the rescue at 4:41 a.m. Sunday.

At 8 a.m., rescuers began hiking the trail and had to climb to the top of Tahquitz Rock to rescue the stranded climbers. Rescuers reached the uninjured climbers and hoisted them to safety.

“We are always happy to respond when other teams, including those outside of LA County, ask for assistance,” Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team said.
