Ron DeSantis says if Stacey Abrams wins election it will create a Florida-Georgia ‘cold war’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday stated that if Stacey Abrams wins Georgia’s gubernatorial election this fall it could trigger a “chilly warfare” between the 2 states. 

“If Stacey Abrams is elected governor of Georgia, I simply wish to be sincere, that will likely be a chilly warfare between Florida and Georgia,” DeSantis stated at a press convention about infrastructure, in accordance with The Hill. 

“I can’t have Castro to my south and Abrams to my north, that might be a catastrophe,” he continued, referencing Cuba. “So I hope you guys handle that and we’ll find yourself in fine condition.”

He added that he “actually appreciates our Georgians.”

Abrams, a Democrat, is operating towards Republican Gov. Brian Kemp.

Former Republican Sen. David Perdue can be operating towards Kemp. 

In a press release to Newsweek, a spokesperson for DeSantis stated, “The governor was merely making an analogy to the stark ideological variations that underpinned the Chilly Conflict. If Stacey Abrams wins the governorship of Georgia, we all know that her strategy to management will contain extra heavy-handed authorities, taxes, and bureaucrat affect. In Florida, Governor DeSantis will proceed to maintain Florida free and put residents first.” 

DeSantis’ workplace did not instantly return Fox Information’ late-night request for remark. 

Kemp and Perdue are each main Abrams within the newest polling, in accordance with The Hill.
