West Virginia gives update on Trey Lathan lower leg injury

West Virginia had to deal with a number of serious injuries on Saturday evening in their matchup with the TCU Horned Frogs. In addition to safety Aubrey Burks, the Mountaineers also had to deal with a lower leg injury to linebacker Trey Lathan.

He stayed in Fort Worth overnight in the hospital. On Sunday afternoon, WVU announced that the 6-foot-1, 225-pounder had successful surgery on his lower leg.

“Trey Lathan had successful surgery on his lower leg this morning. He will continue to recover and be monitored at the hospital in Fort Worth this evening,” the release from West Virginia football read.

Lathan joined West Virginia in 2022, playing in four games during his freshman season. He finished with six total tackles, including a season-high of four tackles against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The 225-pound linebacker also played against Towson and Oklahoma State.
