New murals installed in Capitol Rotunda to celebrate West Virginia history

At his media briefing on June 12, 2024, Gov. Jim Justice was joined by Randall Reid-Smith, secretary of the state Department of Arts, Culture and History, who announced the first four murals will be dedicated at 10:30 a.m., June 20, 2024 which is West Virginia Day. Being dedicated during the ceremony at the state Capitol on June 20, 2024 are the “Battle of Philippi Bridge”, “State Seal”, “Shiveree of Seneca Rock” and “Harpers Ferry 1859.”
