Martinsburg man charged with kidnapping, arson – WV MetroNews

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Police have charged a Martinsburg man with kidnapping and arson after he allegedly threatened a family member and then set two residences on fire.

The call came in at just before 9 a.m. Friday.

Authorities said Gregory Kellner, 42, threatened a female family member, a 47-year-old woman, with a knife and hammer. She was able to escape.

Police said Kellner then set fire to houses at both 326 Betts Way, his address, and 332 Betts Way. Both structures were full of flames when firefighters arrived. Both were declared a total loss.

Betts was arrested by state police a short time later. He’s charged with kidnapping, four counts of first degree arson and domestic assault.

He’s being held in the Eastern Regional Jail without bond.
