Man accused of killing probation and parole agent arrested in WV
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -A man wanted in connection with the death of a Maryland Patrol and Probation agent was arrested on Saturday, according to the U.S. Marshal’s Office.
The U.S. Marshals arrested Emanuel Sewell of Chevy Chase on Saturday along I-64 near Hurricane.
Sewell is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the agent’s death.
Law enforcement received reports of a person matching Sewell’s description.
Deputies attempted to pull over Sewell on Saturday, but he refused to stop and damaged three cruisers before forcing him to comply.
Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police of Maryland were dispatched around 5:50 p.m. on Friday, May 31 to a home for a welfare check on a Maryland Parole and Probation agent who had not reported back to work after a resident check of Emanuel Sewell, a registered sex offender.
Officers found an adult male deceased inside the home. Sewell was not in the apartment and has not been located, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
The agent’s identity has not been released at this time.
The U.S. Marshal’s Southern District of West Virginia, the Hurricane Police Department, the Putnam Sheriff’s Department, and the West Virginia State Police assisted in the arrest.
