Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reaches out for help after bald eagle struck by driver – WV MetroNews

RIPLEY, W.Va. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has its fingers crossed that a bald eagle struck by a driver Friday on U.S. Route 33 near Ripley will be able to recover.

“Today, deputies responded to a bit of a different “Hit & Run” incident….one that left a bald eagle crippled along US Route 33, just outside of Ripley,” a Facebook post from the sheriff’s department said.

The department called the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia for assistance.

“The bird will be entering an extensive rehabilitation program here in the state, where he will hopefully be released back into the wild,” the sheriff’s department said.
