West Virginia is after its first 2-0 start in Big 12 play under head coach Neal Brown when the Mountaineers take on TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium. The 8 p.m. kickoff marks WVU’s fourth night game among its first five contests, and a Thursday night game at Houston awaits October 12 following the Mountaineers’ bye week. Brown is 3-1 in four meetings with the Horned Frogs, including 2-0 in Fort Worth.

West Virginia has lost seven straight games on September 30, though it last played on this date in 1995 at East Carolina.

Like the Mountaineers (3-1, 1-0), TCU (3-1, 1-0) is on a three-game win streak and was victorious in its Big 12 opener, topping Houston 36-13 on September 16.

9:16 p.m. — Burks is shaken up on a WVU punt play. He is put on a back board and taken off the field on a cart after making direct contact with TCU punt returner JoJo Earle. Players from both teams gathered on the field as the game came to a halt for nearly 10 minutes.

9:05 p.m. — The Mountaineers come up with a key red zone stop as Emani Bailey is stopped at the line of scrimmage on fourth-and-1 from the WVU 16. One play earlier, Beanie Bishop made an open field tackle following Bailey’s reception for 4 yards to force the fourth and short. West Virginia takes over 10:59 before halftime.

8:50 p.m. — SCORE: The first play of the second quarter is Morris’ 31-yard touchdown run that puts TCU back on top. The Horned Frogs have two touchdowns on three possessions and moved the ball well on their non-scoring drive as well. TCU 14, West Virginia 7, 14:51 2nd qtr

8:35 p.m. — TCU moves well into WVU territory, but an intentional grounding penalty on a third down incompletion creates a 53-yard field goal attempt, and Parker Kell misses it wide. Hershey McLaurin had a tackle for loss and knocked down a pass at the line of scrimmage for the defensive highlights on the drive. Tyrin Bradley pressured Morris and it helped create the grounding penalty. The Mountaineers will start their third series from their 35-yard line with 4:23 left in the first quarter.

8:21 p.m. — SCORE: The Mountaineers answer, and if there’s any question regarding how healthy Greene is, he shows no lingering effects from the ankle injury on a 35-yard touchdown run. One play earlier, Greene found wideout Devin Carter on a 30-yard pass play — West Virginia’s second-longest pass play this season against Power 5 competition. West Virginia 7, TCU, 7, 8:53 1st qtr

8:15 p.m. SCORE: Nothing short of a nightmare start for the Mountaineers. Greene passes to Preston Fox for 7 yards on the first play from scrimmage, but CJ Donaldson is stood up at the line of scrimmage out of a WVU timeout, and it results in a three-and-out. On the Horned Frogs’ fourth play, Chandler Morris throws a 59-yard touchdown pass to JP Richardson, who gained 50 yards after the catch and slipped free from safety Aubrey Burks. TCU 7, West Virginia 0, 12:15 1st qtr

8:05 p.m. — West Virginia wins the toss and elects to receive. Garrett Greene gets the start at quarterback. He started the first three games, left in the first quarter against Pitt with a right ankle injury and was sidelined for last week’s victory over Texas Tech. That allowed Nicco Marchiol to make his first start.
