Washington D.C. Memorial Day ceremony will remember fallen 1st Infantry Division Soldiers

There can be a Memorial Day service and wreath laying ceremony at 10 a.m. ( CT ) Monday in Washington D.C. on the 1st Infantry Division Monument. Serving as grasp of ceremonies would be the Government Director for the Society of the first Infantry Division, Phyllis Fitzgerald, Junction Metropolis. She famous it’s an annual observance for the Society together with illustration most years from the Division management.
Fitzgerald known as it an honor to be a part of a historic occasion that occurs yearly. “We’re doing what we ought to be doing, which is honoring and remembering all people who have misplaced their lives for our freedom.”
The first Infantry Division monument is positioned adjoining to the White Home. “It was erected by the Society of the first Infantry Division. It was devoted by President Calvin Coolidge, Oct. 4, 1924. All of the funds for that monument itself have been raised privately by the Society.”
Fitzgerald stated on the monument partitions are the names of 12,947 of our fallen which have misplaced their lives in warfare between World Conflict I and Desert Storm. “We have been working for the previous a number of years to get the publish 911 names added to that monument, and that is one other 631 names.”
