Washington Capitals voted to have worst NHL home jersey in poll conducted by hockey analytics personality
While the Washington Capitals’ Reverse Retro jerseys were highly regarded by players and fans, the team’s home jersey featuring the Capitals’ hockey stick wordmark is not getting the same love.
Friday, @JFreshHockey, a popular hockey analytics account on X that has over 121k followers, published results of an poll he conducted through Google where 1,301 voters rated each team’s 2024-25 home uniform on a scale of 1 to 10.
The Capitals finished dead last, notching an average score of 3.7.

According to the poll, 18 percent of voters gave the Capitals’ home jersey a 1 out of 10 — more than any other team except for the Utah Hockey Club (20 percent). Seventy-nine percent of hockey fans that voted in the poll gave the Caps’ home jersey a score of 5 or lower.
The Montreal Canadiens (7.7), Calgary Flames (7.5), Buffalo Sabres (7.4), Boston Bruins (7.3), and Detroit Red Wings (7.1) made up the top 5. Twenty-four percent of fans gave the Canadiens’ home jersey a rating of 10, which… really?

While the poll has flaws and is influenced by who voted and what teams they root for nationally, the results suggest it wouldn’t hurt the Capitals to consider a rebranding as its wordmark logo does not appear to be highly regarded. When RMNB conducted a poll with its followers in 2021, fans voted the Screaming Eagle to be the team’s best logo when choosing between the Capitals wordmark, W, Weagle, and Capitol Dome logos.
