Teen Suspect From D.C. Charged in Fort Washington Park Murder
FORT WASHINGTON, MD — The Prince George’s County Police Department has charged Monte Brown Jr., a 45-year-old man from Washington, D.C., in connection with the murder of 19-year-old David Frye, also from Washington, D.C.
The incident occurred on May 15, 2024, at approximately 6:40 am in a park located at the 11900 block of Autumnwood Lane. Maryland-National Capital Park Police and PGPD officers were dispatched to the scene following a report of an unconscious man. Upon arrival, they discovered Frye suffering from a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Through an extensive investigation, detectives were able to identify Brown as the suspect. The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit successfully apprehended Brown on Thursday. It has been determined that the victim and suspect were acquainted, although the motive behind the shooting is still being investigated.
Brown faces charges of first and second degree murder, among other related charges. He is currently held in the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status. The case continues to develop as investigators work to uncover further details surrounding this tragic event.
