Michigan senator Debbie Stabenow officially says goodbye to public service. Stabenow served Michigan’s communities as one of the state representatives in the United States Senate since 2001. Her seat was won by incoming senator Elissa Slotkin during the most recent general election.
In a statement Wednesday Stabenow expressed a bittersweet sentiment saying goodbye to public service as she enters retirement from government. In the past decade, she worked with Senator Blunt on the Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Ac. Helping to establish 500 community behavioral health clinics across the country. During her tenure in Washington D.C., she sat on numerous committees and held the chair position of the Senate Agriculture Committee since 2011. She says it has been an honor to serve the people of Michigan at the national level for more than two decades.
