Laurel Ridge honoring Native American Heritage Month with event
LURAY, Va. (WHSV) – Laurel Ridge Neighborhood School is welcoming the American Indian Society of Washington D.C., Mates of the United Tribes of the Shenandoah, and sacred runners and walkers from the Dakotas to the Fauquier Campus on Monday, Nov. 14, as a part of Native American Heritage Month, in line with a press launch from the school.
“Come to the Circle,” a recently-developed cultural schooling program which debuted within the nation’s capital final month for Indigenous Individuals’s Day, will function storytelling, singing, a friendship dance and cornhusk crafts.
The celebration can be from 1-3 p.m. within the Barkman Household Convention Middle in Hazel Corridor.
The occasion is being organized by scholar actions and recreation specialist Angela Schroeder, a Laurel Ridge alumna. She has helped to prepare a lunch to be shared amongst faculty and tribal elders previous to the general public occasion.
“We’re honored to host Indigenous residents of the neighborhood right here on the faculty, to develop ongoing relationships with native tribal leaders, and to find out about First Nations historical past via this thrilling interactive program,” mentioned Schroeder.
