A two-alarm fireplace Saturday afternoon in Southeast Washington destroyed a barn at 2722 MLK Avenue. The deserted construction was on the grounds of historic St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, a psychiatric facility that dates again to 1855. Command initially described the constructing as a warehouse.
The hearth was dispatched at 3:57 p.m. Beneath is STATter911 video shot from Virginia displaying the minute by minute progress of the fireplace starting two minutes after dispatch (see time stamps in higher proper nook). Upon arrival the incident commander known as for defensive operations, twin strains, grasp streams and a collapse zone. DC’s 911 heart is at 2720 MLK Avenue SE subsequent door to the fireplace constructing.
