DC Weather: Taste of summer Wednesday as temps to warm around 80 degrees

We’re for another beautiful spring day. After a cool start with wake-up temperatures in the 40s and 50s, temperatures will warm to around 80 degrees Wednesday afternoon with partly to mostly sunny skies.

Once again, the sky may look a little hazy/milky with smoke in the upper levels of the atmosphere from wildfires that continue to burn in western Canada.

Clouds will increase Wednesday evening, as a cold front approaches from the north. There is a slight chance for a passing shower, especially north of D.C. when the cold front slides through. This front will usher in a cooler airmass to round out the week.

Thursday will be cooler and breezy. High temperatures will only reach the low 70s, which is cooler than average for this time of year. It will also be breezy Thursday with northerly winds gusting to 25 mph. We’ll kick off the holiday weekend Friday with sunshine, low humidity, and high temperatures in the low to mid-70s.

An area of low pressure will develop off the southeast coast Friday and will move inland over GA/SC heading into the holiday weekend. Expect an easterly wind flow this weekend that will bring in added clouds and will keep temperatures in the 70s through Memorial Day Monday. There is still a chance for a few showers Sunday and/or Monday. It may not be the best pool weather; however, it should feel pleasant for any outdoor barbecues or gatherings.
