DC leaders to celebrate updates to massive public-private street light modernization project
WASHINGTON (7News) — D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and other leaders are set to gather Monday morning to provide progress on a project to modernize streetlights in all eight wards, according to a statement from her office.
Officials will gather at 11 a.m. to give updates on the D.C. Smart Lighting Project, a massive initiative to upgrade more than 75,000 lights to LED, which officials said will offer energy efficiency, better light directing and safety, remote monitoring, and brightness control.

The project is part of the District’s Smart Cities initiative and is the first public-private partnership into a major works project since the Public-Private Partnership Act of 2014 was introduced, officials said.
The project is also the largest public-private partnership street light project in the nation, according to a statement.
