DC Council votes to create new Housing Authority Board
WASHINGTON – D.C. Council voted Tuesday to create a brand new public housing board.
The present 13-member board might be changed by a 9-member stabilization and reform board appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser.
The organizing director of Empowered D.C. – a nonprofit that advocates for the District’s low-income residents — spoke to FOX 5 concerning the adjustments.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser desires to dissolve the D.C. Housing Authority’s board after a federal report from September blamed the company’s management for failing to offer sage housing for hundreds of District residents.
The transfer comes after a federal report blasted DCHA for failing to offer respectable public housing.
FOX 5 has discovered that the board will include a minimum of one member with expertise in housing improvement operations; one other with expertise in monetary administration; one member with expertise with federal housing regulation and regulation; one member skilled in capital financing and one resident who lives in D.C. public housing.

The Stabilization and Reform Board will stay in place for 3 years till a brand new DCHA Board of Administrators succeeds it.
