A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

8/10: Today will bring a hint of spring to make the birds sing.

  • Today: Sunny with thin high clouds. Highs: 50-56
  • Tonight: Partly cloudy, minimal breeze. Lows: 32-38
  • Tomorrow: Mainly sunny, light breeze. Highs: 57-63

Through the weekend, we get to enjoy a spring break as highs climb to the 50s and 60s! Clouds become more plentiful over the weekend, but chances of showers are very limited. Notable rains should hold off until Monday and then colder air moves back in for the rest of the week.

Today (Thursday): Thin, high clouds are likely to filter our sunshine, but it is still quite pleasant. Highs reach the low-to-mid-50s. Winds are light from the south. Confidence: High

Tonight: The high clouds persist through the night and winds are nearly calm. Lows are mainly in the mid-to-upper 30s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday): Springlike warmth dominates with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Winds are nearly calm to make it even nicer. Skies are partly sunny. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Clouds increase late at night and help to hold lows in the low-to-mid-40s. Confidence: Medium-High

Warmer, moister air starts to stream into the area from the lower Mississippi River Valley on Saturday leading to mostly cloudy skies and the risk of a few spotty light showers. Despite that, highs should climb to the low-to-mid 60s (Reagan National Airport’s record high for the date is 68). Overnight lows settle in the mid-to-upper 40s. Confidence: Medium-High

Sunday should see more breaks in the clouds and shower chance are very low. Highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s are still a winner. It may clear enough by dusk to see the crescent moon and Saturn on the southwest horizon. Lows fall to the upper 30s to lower 40s. Confidence: Medium-High

A new storm in the Deep South starts to head our way Monday and could produce up to an inch of rain in parts of the area overnight. Clouds are thick and highs are back down to the upper 40s and low 50s. Confidence: Medium

A daily assessment of the potential for at least 1 inch of snow in the next week, on a 0-10 scale.

1/10 (→): There’s probably not enough cold air to change rain to snow overnight Monday unless models are wrong about its intensity.
