“As a consequence of a system large outage all service has been non permanent suspended. No estimated time for restoration of service. Technicians are working to revive service,” MTA tweeted Friday.
At 9:43 a.m., the MTA announced service had been restored with the “system large communication outage” having been restored and the system being run on a diminished schedule.
MTA Administrator Holly Arnold said the communications outage was associated to the Optimistic Practice Management system, which prevents trains from colliding, derailing at velocity, and getting into work zones, amongst different issues.
