APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – 95 veterans on Old Glory Honor Flight Mission 72 got off the plane to a warm welcome home Wednesday night at the Appleton International Airport

In Washington D.C., they visited memorials at the nation’s capitol that were erected in their honor. The flight took off from Appleton with two veterans of World War II and 93 veterans of the Vietnam and Korean wars.

Some of the veterans spoke with us, saying it’s an experience they’ll never forget.

“It was a great trip. I recommend everybody to do it if they can, all veterans. You see stuff that you’ll probably never see again. It was well worth the time spent, and I’m just amazed at the turnout,” said U.S. Navy veteran William Romer.
