Kenny Payne noted this the last time Louisville men’s basketball played Virginia.

The Cavaliers (14-5, 5-3 ACC) are a different team away from home.

At John Paul Jones Arena this season, they’re 11-0, including a 24-point beatdown of the Cardinals on Jan. 3. In true road games, they’re 1-4 and losing games by an average margin of 20 points.

But with the way U of L has been playing defense lately, which is to say it hasn’t, and the sparse crowds that have become commonplace at the KFC Yum! Center, its home-court advantage might not matter much when the teams square off this afternoon.

Louisville will have to bring the fight to UVA if it wants to snap a four-game losing streak with its first win in the series since Feb. 8, 2020. And each possession will matter, associate head coach Danny Manning told reporters Friday, with the Cavs’ penchant for chewing up the clock.

“It’s just honing in on the little things during winning time, during that last stretch of game when it’s close,” sophomore Tre White said. “We’ve got to be all together defensively, all together offensively, and just play hard and (take care of) the little things.”

Here’s what you need to know to follow along from home:
