Virginia woman arrested after loaded gun was found at RIC
RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – A Virginia girl has been arrested after TSA officers at RIC caught her with a loaded handgun on Thursday.
TSA officers stopped the Brodnax, Va., girl when her carry-on bag triggered an alarm on the safety checkpoint X-ray unit. The 9mm handgun was loaded with 4 bullets.
Upon recognizing the weapon, airport police confiscated the handgun and arrested the girl for a weapons violation.
The girl instructed officers that she was unaware that there was a gun in her carry-on bag, and mentioned the gun didn’t belong to her. She then mentioned that she thought her husband might need positioned the gun in her bag.
Along with the arrest, she additionally faces a stiff Federal monetary civil penalty.
That is the second handgun TSA officers detected on the airport this week, and the eighth handgun that was discovered at a safety checkpoint this yr.
