Trio of Hat Tricks Power No. 12 Virginia to 18-12 Win at VCU

RICHMOND, Va. – Three gamers completed with hat methods to steer the No. 12 Virginia ladies’s lacrosse group (9-4) to an 18-12 win at VCU (6-7) on Wednesday afternoon at Cary Road Discipline in Richmond, Va.

UVA opened up the sport with a 7-0 run throughout which it held VCU scoreless for 13 minutes. Sophomore Rachel Clark had three targets through the run and completed with six to steer the Cavaliers. Graduate scholar Ashlyn McGovern scored 5 targets and junior Mackenzie Hoeg added three. Junior Morgan Schwab and sophomore Kate Miller each had three assists for UVA.

Junior Aubrey Williams matched a career-high with 15 draw controls. Williams now owns the UVA report in profession attracts with 304. The Cavaliers led 19-16 within the draw circle.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Virginia took a 2-1 lead after back-to-back targets from Hoeg and sophomore Abby Manalang.
• Clark scored her first earlier than a 3-0 run recreation VCU a 5-3 edge with 1:00 to go within the first quarter.
• The Cavaliers took simply 25 seconds to make it 5-4 with a purpose from sophomore Maureen Duffy and 17 seconds later Clark added her second to tie it up 5-5 on the finish of the primary.
• These two targets led into the 7-0 run that continued within the second quarter.

• Clark had two extra targets and Hoeg, Miller and McGovern every had one within the run to place UVA up 10-5 with 4:47 to go within the first half.
• Hoeg added one other purpose because the Cavaliers led 11-7 on the break.
• Virginia opened the second half with a 3-0 run with targets from Clark, McGovern and graduate scholar Taylor Mullen.
• McGovern scored three of UVA’s final 4 targets and Clark tacked on her sixth as UVA cruised to the win.

NOTES

• McGovern moved into tenth all-time at UVA with 208 profession factors and is at present fifth all-time with 189 profession targets.
• Schwab now has 84 profession assists, transferring into sixth all-time in UVA historical past.
• The Cavaliers led in photographs (31-28) and floor balls (13-9). Each groups completed with 9 saves.
